BEYOND THE FRAME

At William Painter we strive to be more than just a faceless brand... We are a team of six individuals and friends that take care of each other, work hard, challenge ourselves, and strive to reach almost impossible goals. Not only do we work really hard on making the best products, but we also value our time outside the office with friends and family. We built William Painter to be something more than just a brand, we built it to drive us to do more for the world (as well as ourselves) than just make products and sell them. We believe in uncompromising quality, we do not just make products for the sake of making them. Every product we make is something that we PERSONALLY want and is done with careful consideration to not only the materials but to the human beings helping us create them.

It took lots of travel (which included sleeping on floors *if sleeping at all, flying standby), and developing relationships, as well as a ton of testing and research to find the most durable materials in the world. We found the best possible combination of materials for unrivaled durability, style, and comfort… something that we would truly wear everyday. We wanted all of our materials to be able to withstand anything we/you could throw at them while living that beautiful thing we all call life. We are aware that as part of the fashion industry we are playing a role in the Carbon Emissions emitted in our environment. We decided that we need to do better, challenge ourselves, and try to set a better example for future generations…

We have partnered up with One Tree Planted a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For every pair of sunglasses sold we will plant a tree to help reforestation efforts, make an impact on local communities, protect biodiversity, and create a healthier environment for our planet. Trees are vital for the environment as they help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. They also provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

It was way past time for us to do our part. We hope you can join us along this journey. It's been a fun one, and it's only getting better from here… :)

WHY ARE TREES IMPORTANT TO THE ENVIRONMENT?

AIR

Trees help to clean the air we breathe. Through their leaves and bark, they absorb harmful pollutants and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. In urban environments, trees absorb pollutant gases like nitrogen oxides, ozone, and carbon monoxide, and sweep up particles like dust and smoke. Increasing levels of carbon dioxide caused by deforestation and fossil fuel combustion trap heat in the atmosphere. Healthy, strong trees act as carbon sinks, offset carbonCand reducing the effects of climate change.

WATER

Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. Their intricate root systems act like filters, removing pollutants and slowing down the water’s absorption into the soil. This process prevents harmful waterslide erosion and reduces the risk of over-saturation and flooding. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Association, a mature evergreen tree can intercept more than 15,000 litres of water every year.

BIODIVERSITY

A single tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Depending on the kind of food and shelter they need, different forest animals require different types of habitat. Without trees, forest creatures would have nowhere to call home.

Binge Watching

-1.8 tons of CO2 annually 11 trees

The average person watches 1.5 hours of Netflix every day, not including your binging of Yellow Stone or Big Little Lies.
