These are USCG grade, sideslip, wax string, sailing carabiners that have a William Painter brand on both sides, can carry up to one ton, and each was individually numbered by the man himself.
The leather itself was some of the last issued from the old Red Wing Boot factory that opened in 1908 in Red Wing Minnesota.
