2. The Joe Rogan Experience

I would hope that by now you have heard the JRE podcast... If by some small chance you have not, we might need to have a serious talk.

Really though, in all seriousness Joe Rogan is a man of many talents. One of them is his career as one of the best and biggest podcasters in the world today. If you would like some suggestions to get your feet wet, I would recommend you listen to a few of these:

Podcast with Judd Apatowfilm producer, writer, director, actor, and comedian. Look for him touring all over this summer, and check out his latest film "The Big Sick" opening June 23rd in New York & Los Angeles.

Podcast with Amit Goswami, Ph. D: a retired professor from the theoretical physics department of the University of Oregon in Eugene.  He has authored numerous books on the ideas and concepts surrounding quantum physics including, Quantum MechanicsGod is Not Dead, and The Self-Aware Universe.

Podcast with Stanley Krippner: an American psychologist, and an executive faculty member and Professor of Prsychology at Saybrook university in San Francisco.  He has written many books covering topics such as psychology and shamanism, including “The Voice of Rolling Thunder: A Medicine Man’s Wisdom for Walking the Red Road“

*Side note, I am not a big MMA guy, but I have heard that his pre and post fight podcasts are really good.

3. The Tim Ferriss Show

Tim is the man, if you had not found already that out for yourself.

This is one of my all time favorite podcasts because Tim works so hard on being the best at everything he does. In each episode, Tim deconstructs the lives of world-class performers in eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract tactics, tools, and routines you can use in your life. This includes favorite books, morning routines, exercise habits, time-management tricks, and much, much more.

Please, listen to this man conduct an interview.... it's truly amazing.

He is the first interview and business podcast to pass 100,000,000 downloads, and his show has been selected as a “Best Of” on iTunes for three years running (and hit the charts in 2016 under “Most Downloaded”).

Past guests include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Foxx, Edward Norton, Tony Robbins, Maria Popova, Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen, Amanda Palmer, Malcolm Gladwell, Vince Vaughn, Rick Rubin, Reid Hoffman, Jon Favreau, Whitney Cummings, Mike Shinoda, and 200+ more.

Those guys don't mess around.

4. Dan Carlin Hardcore History

According to just about every podcaster I have ever listened to... Dan Carlin is without a doubt the best in the business according to the "best in the business".

I have never heard any kind of story (fiction or non-fiction) dissected and told better than one from the mind and mouth of Mr Carlin. This man has a passion for history that is almost beyond description. Just give this first one here a listen and let me know what you think.

A word to the wise: these are VERY long episodes, so make sure to carve out some time to really get into them. I have never heard something be described with such passion and true vigor for the given subject.

5. All Things Considered

If you want a fantastic glimpse into the world of everyday Americans, there is no better place to look than here.

In the more than four decades since, almost everything about the program has changed, from the hosts, producers, editors and reporters to the length of the program, the equipment used and even the audience.

However there is one thing that remains the same: each show consists of the biggest stories of the day, thoughtful commentaries, insightful features on the quirky and the mainstream in arts and life, music and entertainment, all brought alive through sound.

All Things Considered is the most listened-to, afternoon drive-time, news radio program in the country.
